Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee – Is This Worth Visiting?
When Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee first opened in Tasik Cermin, the crowds were incredible.
People would come here for breakfast only to wait outside for a table. By the time they got their food, it would be lunch time.
But what is it like now? Is it still crowded? What has changed since this eatery first opened? Find out below!
What Is It Like At Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee?
Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee is in the same area as Tasik Cermin. So, it’s a very convenient choice if you feel hungry and want something more lasting than snacks or ice cream.
There is a car park right in front of the café too. And behind the café, you can walk up a slope to enter a clearing where you can see the nearby limestone hill (and its ample greenery) up close.
While there is nothing to do here besides sit and admire the view, walking up to this clearing makes for a nice bit of stretch. Especially if you’ve already been on the road for a couple of hours.
The café itself has expanded a lot since opening. There are many seats inside and at the back of the café which is right next to a limestone hill.
Compared to our first visit here, we did see a new dedicated souvenir shop for Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee.
By the visitor toilets is a brand-new space for an arcade and artisan market too. And at the back of this block is a small park of sorts in the works.
When Is The Best Time To Visit
During our visit here at 11am+ on a Saturday morning, we didn’t see the same crazy queue the eatery outside anymore.
So, we didn’t have to wait outside for a table. The waiters let us choose where we wanted to sit too.
We thought it would be hot to sit outside at around midday, but the big coolers were sufficient to cool the place down.
Thus, you don’t necessarily have to come here early in the morning if you’re worried about the afternoon heat.
Is Dining Here Worth The Price?
As a tourist spot, you must expect prices to match. We spent close to RM40 for food and drinks for 2 people here.
The food is not bad but could be better:
We ordered nasi lemak which came with tasty and spicy chicken and sambal. But we were disappointed that the rice portion was small.
Moreover, the rice didn’t have any hint of coconut and it was very oily at the bottom since the sambal was not served separately.
Butter and kaya toast here is very much like the other branches of Chang Jiang White Coffee:
The toasted bread is extremely crunchy. And they are very generous with the still-cold blocks of butter neatly wedge between the bread slices.
Our drinks of kopi ais and teh ais were both good (i.e. rich taste with a smooth milky consistency). While sweet at first, the overall taste will mellow out later to a more acceptable level of sweetness when the ice melts.
We enjoyed sitting outdoors with the rustic ambiance and cool breeze from the coolers. Service is alright – they have many staff to wait on tables. And it did not take more than 15 minutes to see warm food on the table.
Conclusion
If you’re prepared to spend more, Kin Loong Valley Chang Jiang White Coffee is a reasonably good option for those planning to visit Tasik Cermin.
We would not go out of our way to have breakfast here though. Especially when there are cheaper places to get breakfast in Ipoh.
