Where To Try Ipoh White Coffee – A Famous Local Beverage
Ipoh white coffee is not just a brand. It’s a staple beverage that is part of the local culture.
Almost every coffee shop in Ipoh offers this beverage. The difference is that some prepare it in-house, while others may use 3-in-1 sachets.

1. Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong
Both locals and tourists know about Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong. This long-standing coffee shop still looks like it did years ago. It was founded in 1937.
And loyal patrons claim that the coffee still tastes the same too.

There’s not much to order when it comes to food, but they don’t mind if you get your food from the coffee shop (Kedai Makanan Nam Heong) across the road (many people go for the curry noodles).
2. Kedai Makanan Nam Heong
This coffee shop is old too (founded in 1958). And they are famous for more than just coffee (we like their iced coffee). Of these, you must try their egg tarts which they bake daily and curry mee.
They do have some dim sum too.
Because of their broad food selection, Kedai Makanan Nam Heong is often packed with people from morning to lunch.
3. Restoran Sin Lean Lee
It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but this traditional coffee shop has wonderful coffee. The coffee is smooth and creamy with a balanced taste.

The beef noodles that you can get here have tender chunks of meat and the broth is tasty. And you can order some yong tau fu as sides as well.
This is more of a breakfast place so expect a lot of locals to be here around 9am.
4. Xin Xiang Er Nong Restaurant
While you can get a lot of different food here, many of the stalls are just average atXin Xiang Er Nong Restaurant. Pan mee (dried version) is one of the safer orders.
It is the coffee that many come for and hence, this place is very busy in the morning.
They have kaya toast as well and this is a perfect partner to their coffee (we personally get the hot coffee, not iced version).
5. Restoran Sin Kin Kok (or Kedai Kopi Kin Kok)
Walking distance from Concubine Lane and next to Time Tunnel museum, Restoran Sin Kin Kok has great drinks in general – we are big fans of the smooth teh tarik here.

This coffee shop is spacious compared to many others, and brightly lit too. Finding parking can be a nightmare during lunch hours when the working crowd comes out.
For food, there’s decent chee cheong fun (but pricey), char kuay teow, and chicken rice.

There are so many other places to try Ipoh white coffee that we did not mention. These are just the ones that are the most convenient to visit if you’re in the touristy areas of Ipoh.
