Which Shopping Malls To Visit In Ipoh
For a small city, Ipoh has many shopping malls. But not all of them are as beloved as the two on the top of this list.
If you’re expecting a shopping experience like that of larger cities in Malaysia, you might be a little disappointed.
But if you do need any essentials, you will be able to find it at these malls!
AEON Kinta City
This is one of the oldest malls in Ipoh. While small enough to explore in a few hours, its central location is the reason it’s so popular. On weekends, the car park (both indoor and outdoor) is overflowing.
Anchor tenants are AEON department store and supermarket. But there are also more than a few eateries to choose from here besides the food court upstairs:
- Sushi King
- Burger King
- Vivo
- The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf
- Pizza Hut
- Kinta Village Food Court, etc.
And there’s both a DAISO and MR.DIY shop right next to each other. On the same floor is a money exchange service.
There are also 3 pharmacies in this mall – Guardian, Watsons, and AEON Wellness. When it comes to fashion opportunities, there are few choices – Levi’s, Vincci, and Padini Concept Store.
You can watch a movie here at the long-serving TGV cinema but know that the seats don’t have ample headrests for taller folk.
At the back of the mall is a karaoke center. And at the roof of the mall, is the bowling alley (Ipoh Bowl).
Ipoh Parade
Ipoh Parade is another very popular mall around here. Parking is indoors and this mall is interconnected to WEIL Hotel.
It’s got a high-end supermarket in the basement, Jaya Grocer and a large hardware store, ACE Hardware. Both tenants feature a lot of imported products.
The anchor tenant at Ipoh Parade is PARKSON.
There is a food court at the top of this mall, but it is small. Other eateries include:
- The Chicken Rice Shop
- A&W Fast Food
- Marrybrown Family Restaurant
- Subway
- Lam Fong Yuen
- Penang Chendul
- Oiso
- MyeongDong Topokki
- Sushi King
- Sushi Tei
Ipoh Parade has more options for apparel shopping than AEON Kinta City. These include local brands as well as UNIQLO, Adidas, PUMA, and Nike.
The cinema anchor is GSC (Golden Screen Cinema) on the top floor, and this is our go-to cinema in Ipoh if we want to see any new movies.
There’s also a karaoke and arcade center on the floor below the cinema. Ipoh Parade has a bowling center too (Ampang Superbowl).
If you need to exchange any money, there is a money exchange service in this mall too. It’s a small stall outside PARKSON on the ground floor.
AEON Station 18
This spacious mall is 20 minutes’ drive from Ipoh Old Town. Anchor tenants at this mall are AEON department store and supermarket.
Most notably, this mall features a lot of local fashion brands, and big fashion retail names like Cotton On, H&M, flipper, FOSSIL, LEVI’S, and UNIQLO.
As for dining options, the selection is wide:
- Dragon-i
- Hai Di Lao
- Hong Kong Kim Gary
- Kenny Rogers ROASTERS
- KFC
- MR.Dakgalbi
- Nando’s
- OldTown White Coffee
- Penang Chendul
- Pizza Hut
- Sushi King
- Texas Chicken
There are 3 main pharmacies in this mall – Watsons, Caring, and Guardian. POPULAR Bookstore is here too. Along with Century Book Store.
At the top floor of AEON Station 18 is the cinema (TGV), a DAISO branch and a MR.DIY branch.
If you’re looking for any electronics, there’s Machines (licensed Apple reseller), Huawei and Samsung.
Conclusion
Any of these shopping malls in Ipoh are a great option to spend a couple hours out of the heat or rain.
Depending on what you’re looking for, you might want to go with AEON Station 18 for more fashionable choices. Or Ipoh Parade its athleisure brands of the high-end supermarket.
